Abstract

284,985. Bosiml Engine Corporation, (Assignees of Bosmans, J. A.). Feb. 7, 1927, [Convention date]. Pistons. - A multi-cylinder double-acting engine has a pin-and-slot driving gear; mounted on each crank pin 45 is a divided block 44 which slides in guides 43 in a slot midway of the piston. The slot is open at its ends to allow the block to move beyond the piston surface. The two parts of each block are held together by wires resting in recesses in the block. The pistons are cast integrally with connecting webs 40; in a modification plates may be used instead of some of the webs 40 to connect the piston parts. The guides and pistons are. connected together by tongue and groove joints, and the slot formed by the guides is inclined to the axis of the pistons. The Specification as open to public inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes an arrangement wherein the piston heads are independent and the guides 43, Fig. 27 (Cancelled), are connected together by webs 40a and are rigidly bolted to the two piston parts 39, 39<a> corresponding lugs being cast on the piston parts and guides. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
