Abstract

March 2, 1925, Feeding carding-engines.-In a feeding-device of the kind described in Specifications 232,542 and 239,757 for a cotton carding-engine the roll of lap B from the scutching-machine is arranged at the side of the weighing-device g and above a receptacle A containing waste. The lap B is unrolled by a lattice b and fed upwards between a spiked lattice d and lattice c to the oscillating comb f. The waste is fed upwards by a spiked lattice k and is transferred by a roller o to the lattice d. The lap and the waste may be fed simultaneously and mixed or each may be fed alone. The lattices k, d may be formed on a single spiked lattice. Two or more laps may be arranged one above the other so as to be fed successively or simultaneously. The laps may be of different qualities of cotton and the fibres mixed.
