Abstract

255,951. Skinner, G. H. April 30, 1925. Spray carburettors. - A main air passage A<1> with mixture throttle A<2> is formed in a body A provided with a cover B forming a suction chamber in which slides an enlargement or flange-like portion C<1> of a piston valve C which controls the passage A<1> and carries a needle-valve D for controlling the fuel discharge from an adjustable jet tube E. A sleeve B<1> surrounded by the valve C has, at its upper end, a small orifice B<3> in an exchangeable plug B<2> and serves, in conjunction with a plunger C<2>, to form a dashpot for steadying the movements of the combined valve and suction disc. Suction is transmitted to the upper side of the flange C<1> through a passage C<3> in the valve C, which passage is kept facing the outlet end of the main passage A<1> by a pin A<4> engaging a slot C<4> in the valve body.
