Abstract

249,925. Rogers, W. P. Jan. 1, 1925. Producers.-In an iron-steam process for the production of hydrogen the spent reducing gas passes from the retorts a through a main o, valves e, u, and heat-exchanger p to a generator r. By means of valves q the gas may be made to pass either up or down the generator r. Towards the end of the reducing stage, the partly spent gas may be passed directly to the scrubber t, and the generator may be blown to incandescence by an air-blast. The hot blow-gas from the generator r is passed through valve w to the combustion flue b for external heating of the retorts a.
