248,737. Sulzer FrÞres Soc. Anon. March 5, 1925, [Convention date]. Compound piston pumps.-A double-acting scavening air pump 5 for an internal combustion engine is coaxial with a doubleacting supercharging air pump 6, the two pistons 3, 4 being on a common rod 2, so that the pressure in one pump bears a fixed relationship to that simultaneously existing in the other. The crosshead 1 may also be a pump piston used to supply the fuel injection air. The suction pipe 9 of the supercharging pump may be connected either to atmosphere direct or to the delivery side of the scavenging pump, a three-way cock 13 being provided for this purpose.
