Abstract

227,718. Clark, E. E. Jan. 16, 1924. Float valves.-In a dry-pipe valve, having an air valve 7, a water valve 4, a neutral chamber 8 between the valves, and a drip valve 10 in the chamber 8, the drip valve 10 is normally held open by the weight of a buoyant member 13, which, if buoyed up by an accumulation of water in the chamber 8 due to the opening of the valve 4, causes the drip valve 10 to close, thus accelerating the opening of the air valve. The buoyant member 13 is carried by an arm 14 rigid with a sleeve 15, which is loosely mounted on a shaft 16 and is provided with a projection 20 engaging a projection 21 on another sleeve rigid with an arm 18 pivoted to the valve 10. When the member 13 is buoyed up, the projection 20 moves away from the projection 21, thus allowing the valve 10 to drop into closed position.
