Abstract

226,443. Clark, E. E. June 16, 1924. Sprinklers, automatic.-In a dry-pipe valve of the type in which the air and water valves upon opening turn into a position outside the waterway under the control of link mechanism, the valves are locked in the open position by cooperating locking-members on the link mechanism and valve structure respectively, adapted to engage automatically when the valves open. The air valve 11 is connected to the water valve 10 by a headed stud 12, and is pivoted at 21 to extensions 20 of a U-shaped link 18 pivoted to the casing at 19, the lower part of the valve 11 being pivoted at 24 to a substantially parallel link 25. The valves are looked in the open position, shown in dotted lines, by the engagement of the end 41 of a pawl 35 with a shoulder 40 of a projection 39 on the link 25. In order to facilitate cleaning or removal of the valve structure, the link shafts 21, 24 are headed at one end, and provided at the other end with a pivotally and slidably mounted locking-key, which when turned into alignment with the shaft permits its removal.
