Sprinkler, automatic. - A dry pipe valve is provided with a draining valve for one of the valve chambers which is automatically opened or closed according as the water clapper is closed or opened, in association with means which automatically prevent reclosing of the water clapper after it has opened, such means being operable from outside the casing for the resetting of the main valve. As shown, the main valve casing 1 housing the independently pivoted and interconnected air and water clappers 15, 25 is extended at 1<a> to provide a cylindrical drainage chamber G' provided with a bushing 52 in which is seated a conical drain valve 57. The bushing has drain holes 55. Pivoted to an extension 60 of the valve 57 by a pin 67 is a lever 61 also pivoted at 63 and having a tappet 68 extending into the path of a nose 69 on the water clapper 25. When the latter closes it depresses the tappet; 68 to open the valve 57, and when it opens the valve 57 closes by its own weight. Pivoted above the valve 57 is a dog 70 having a nose 75. When the water clapper opens it tilts the dog out of its path, but in reclosing, its nose 69 engages over the nose 75 of the dog, preventing complete closing of the water clapper with consequent interruption of the water supply. When it is desired to reset the main valve the drain valve 57 is raised by its stem 59 which extends outside the casing, so that the pivot pin 67 engages wings 82 on the dog 70 and tilts the latter to release the water clapper.
