Abstract
224,396. Thompson, H. A., and Swinney Bros., Ltd. Dec. 17, 1923. Cooking-ranges, particularly ships' galley ranges, comprise a fire-box a with a superposed and laterally-extended hot-plate d of substantially the same width from front to back, a flue e beneath the hot-plate extension and of substantially the same width, an oven b mounted on the lateral extension of the hot-plate and provided with heating-flues f, f<1> and a by-pass flue f<2>, together with means for directing the gases from the flue e either into the oven flues or the by-pass flue. The means shown comprise a single damper h arranged above the outlet opening h<2> from the flue e. Baffles i in the oven top flue direct the gases to the front of the flue before they pass to the chimney. Two such stoves, built as right and left-hand units, may be combined as shown in Fig. 1; or arranged with the' hot-plate ends adjacent. Four units may be employed, with the ovens at the centre. The ovens may be removed when hot-plate cooking only is desired.
