Abstract
223,344. Taylor, H. L. Aug. 7, 1923. Boring-bars; reamers. - In an adjustable reamer, boring-bar or like tool of the type having an adjustable guide or pilot adapted to operate ahead of the cutters, the cutting blades b are adjustable, in known manner by means of nuts c, d and the. shank a has an extension provided with a conical portion a<1> around which fit a series of segments e having their inner surfaces inclined and their outer surfaces parallel to the axis of the tool so as to act as the pilot. Adjustment is effected by nuts h, i having bevelled surfaces engaging the segments, and rotation of the segments on the shank is prevented by keys f on the segments entering keyways on the shank. Alternatively, the keys and keyways may be interchanged, or the shank may have ribs, preferably of taper form, to fit between adjacent segments.
