Abstract

404,836. Drills. KIPOUROPOULOS, N., 47, Boulevard des Dames, Marseilles, France. April 7, 1933, No. 10431. [Class 83 (iii).] An expanding boring tool comprises a central blade 3 and one or more swinging blades 4, 5 pivoted on each side thereof at 6. The swinging blades may be arranged scissors fashion, as shown in Fig. 1 and expanded by a conical nut 9 screwing on the shank portion 2 of the central blade, or may be arranged as shown in Fig. 7 and expanded by a hollow 9 screwing on the shank 2. A spring 7 in each case tends to collapse the cutter, and equidistant graduations 13 are provided both longitudinally and transversely on the blades to facilitate grinding and adjustment. The blades are arranged so that the cutting pressure during operation tends to keep them in contact with each other, as shown in Fig. 4.
