Abstract
409,385. Drill bits. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Oct. 31, 1932, No. 30674. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1931. [Class 83 (iii).] The inserted hard metal cutter of a boring bit is provided on both cutting faces at the point with a depression such that the width of the cutter at the point is reduced, the depression extending in the axial direction of the bit and being relatively small in breadth as compared with the length of the cutting edge. A hard metal inserted cutter 14 of tungsten carbide or the like carried between the wings 13 of a boring bit 11 has depressions 17 which reduce the width of the cutting portions at the point.
