Pocket-knives.-In a pocket-knife having one or two blades foldable into the handle the tang of each blade is formed with an elongated slot b<x> engaging the pivot pin f<1> and with a pin b<2> connected tc a toggle link T. The links are connected respectively with the arms s<1>, s<2> of two slides S<1>, S<2> disposed in recesses in the handle scales and operated by finger studs s<11>, s<22> projecting through slots in the scales; the slide s<1> has a spring piece s<x> which bears against the slide S<2> and holds both slides resiliently in their recesses with one or other of shoulders s<12>, s<13> against projections h<14> in the scales. To open the blade B<1> the stud s<11> is pressed inwards to clear the shoulder s<13> from the projection h<14> and then slid away from the pivot to move the slide and cause the toggle link to rock the blade on its pivot until it is in line with the handle, the final movement of the slide causing the blade to slide on its pivot so that a projection b<1> on its tang engages with a shoulder h<x> on the spine h separating the scales; on releasing the stud s<11> the shoulder s<12> engages behind the projection h<14> and locks the blade in the open position. The spine and scales are secured together by nuts f<2> on the pivots f<1> so that the toggle links and other parts are easily accessible.
