Abstract

A laminate is formed by progressively curing a liquid curable composition in situ in the interspace between two spaced-apart vertically positioned sheets thereby to form an intermediate polymeric layer, the progressive curing of the liquid curable composition being achieved by feeding the liquid curable composition at a controlled rate into the interspace, illuminating the interspace with radiation which cures the liquid composition, and regulating the rate of feed of the liquid composition to ensure progressive curing and solidification of the composition, as its level rises in the interspace, to a degree which prevents unacceptable deformation of the sheets. In the apparatus shown an assembly of glass or plastics sheets 10 is supported vertically and the interlayer composition is controllably fed from a burette 28. The interlayer is cured by radiation from lamps 45 attached to a driven belt and movable along rails 49. <IMAGE>
