Abstract

A hydraulic lifting device, particularly for forklift trucks and platform loaders, is provided with two cylinder spaces (6, 14) sealed from each other. One cylinder space (14) is for connection to a source (21) of hydraulic fluid under pressure and the other cylinder space (6) is for forming a closed compressible fluid energy storage region which stores energy on the downward or lowering movement of the lifting device for subsequent application to the lifting device on raising of a load. <IMAGE>
