Abstract

Plug-cocks; packing. - A plug-cock is provided with annular packing which is held in place and prevented from rotating with the plug by means of a loose ring corrugated on one side and pressed against the packing by a spring. The tapered plug a is provided with packing d between the stem c and the casing, and a metal ring f is pressed against the packing by a spring g. The ring f and shoulder e are chamfered where they engage the packing. The plug may have a projecting stud j passing through packing gland, so that when the nut m is screwed up. the plug is held in its seating and the packing d may be removed.
