Abstract

191,098. Chambers, A. G., and Sparks, B. Aug. 3, 1921. Latches, sliding.-A fastening for automatically retaining a shop blind of the awning type in the closed position comprises a bolt D, carried in a casing C on the front bar A of the blind, which has shoulders d' recessed at d<2> to receive springs which normally cause the bolt to engage a housing b in the roller casing B in the closed position, the housing being covered by a plate F formed with a striking surface f. The bolt is formed with an eye d' which projects through a slot c<3> in the casing C, and when the blind is to be opened, the eye d<3> is engaged by the blind pole and the bolt drawn downwardly clear of the housing b, its movement being limited by stops engaging the shoulders d'. The blind can then be unrolled.
