Abstract

24,302. Bloxam, A. G., [Schoeller, A.]. Nov. 9. Magneto-eleciric machines, alternating-current, for telephones, railway signalling, igniters for gas motors, blasting, &c., in which the windings of the circuit are stationary. A permanent magnet M, Fig. 1, is provided on each side with three iron pole-pieces P<1>, K<1> arranged parallel to the lines of force, the circuit windings being round the central pieces K<1>. Revolving in the magnetic field is an iron armature A', with three arms so that the two outer pole-pieces P' are always magnetically shortcircuited with the middle extension K<1> on the other side, six current impulses being produced for each armature revolution. In a modification, Fig. 3, there are four polar extensions K<3>, each of which has the windings of the circuit, producing four current impulses per revolution of the armature A<3>. The polar extremities may be situated on one side of the field only, and in Fig. 3 the pole-piece windings may be replaced by a solenoid, situated between the said pole-pieces with its axis at right-angles to the magnetic field. Instead of a permanent magnet, an electromagnet may be employed, and supplied with continuous current produced from part of the alternating current generated.
