Abstract

189,362. Arnavat, L. Dec. 16, 1921. Bottles, non-refillable.- An obturator for rendering bottles &c. non-refillable, comprises a cylindrical casing 1 secured in the bottle neck by a sleeve, or packing 20, and formed with the inside diameter of its inner end smaller than that of its outer end, so that a minimum of resistance is imposed upon the motion of a disc-valve 6 and a float 7 which slide therein. The float and valve are pressed against the valve seat by a ball 8, which, when liquid is being poured from the bottle, rests in a hollow 9 formed by ribs 10 which separate, openings 17, 18 in a cover 16. and provide a shoulder 12 which retains the ball in a position in which it maintains the closure of the valve 6 when the bottle is horizontal. At the inner end of the casing a cup 14, which is shaped to form a seat for the inclined edge of the valve 6, is provided with projections 15 which break up the liquid into streams and cause it to flow through the orifices 17, air being admitted through the inlets 18.
