Abstract

835,507. Non-fillable stoppers. N. R. FITMENTS Ltd. June 26, 1958 [Feb. 25, 1958], No. 6071/58. Class 66. A non-refillable stopper comprising a lower cup-shaped member 10, an upper member 11, a valve member 12, and a guard member 13, is characterised in that the valve member 12 has an integral extension 12<SP>1</SP> with ribs 12<SP>2</SP> co-operating with the inner wall of the member 10 to ensure the correct return of the valve member to a position in which it closes a liquid inlet 14, the flutes between the ribs 12<SP>2</SP> forming liquid flow passages when the valve member is open. The guard member 13 is triangular in plan view, Fig. 3, and together with members 10, 11 and 12 is moulded in a synthetic plastics material, preferably polystyrene. A removable cap 20 with depending wall 21 forms a pushon fit with an extension 18 of the member 11 and is made more secure by circular ribs 22 on wall 21. The stopper is held on a bottle-neck 23 by a metal sleeve 25; and a sealing ring 24 is fitted. In a modification the wall 21 is replaced by a cork fixed to the cap 20. According to the Provisional Specification the guard member 13 may be polygonal.
