Abstract

183,704. Little, C. W. G. July 14, 1921. Razors, safety. - A safety razor comprises a thin flexible blade 5, mounted in a carrier formed from a pair of plates 1, 2 pivoted together at 3 and having means to position the blade between them, the blade-holding portions of the carrier being contained between a guard 10 and backing- plate 9 which flex the blade. The ends of the parts 9, 10 are formed to interlock and engage the carrier, one end of the backing-plate having a depending loop 12 which engages the pivoted end of the carrier and an extension 15 on the guard, while the other end has lugs 14 straddling the guard. The ends of the carrier, guard, and backing-plate remote from the pivot 3 are formed to pass within a hollow handle 8 by which the parts are clamped together for shaving. The loop 12 may have extensions engaging beneath the guard, which has recesses engaging the limbs of the loop. The carrier may be clamped in the handle by itself for stropping purposee, and one edge of the blade may be protected by a cap which gives the correct stropping-angle.
