Abstract

Regulating.-In a twostroke multicylinder engine which ignites its charges by the heat of compression and using burnt gases trapped from the combustion chamber of one cylinder to inject fuel into another cylinder, the fuel is delivered by a pipe 32 past the needle valve 29 into the chamber 23, which adjoins the valve 24. By this means, the power output of the engine is kept approximately constant irrespective of load, since the flow of fuel past the needle valve is independent of the engine speed and of the load. The needle valves for all the cylinders may be simultaneously set by hand, and the engine may run in either direction.
