Abstract

170,604. Mossman, S. Feb. 1, 1921. Corner joints; boxes made from special blanks; boxes combined in tiers.-The lids and bodies of receptacles for tin-plates &c. are formed from shaped metal blanks, the side edges being folded on themselves to form fastening-means for the lids. The lid d, Fig. 2<a>, is formed with upstanding flanges j and rests upon ledges k, Fig. 1<a>, and between upstanding flanges l upon the body portion. The corners c are soldered, welded, or lockseamed. Packing m is interposed and the parts l, j are bent down as shown on the left of Fig. 4, and finally the whole thickness is lapped over upon the cover as shown on the right of Fig. 4. The receptacles may be provided with corresponding ridges n, Fig. 5, and grooves o on the lid and bottom respectively, or with studs and recesses to facilitate stacking.
