Folding boxes; boxes made from special blanks; lids.-A cardboard box is made from a cruciform blank which is folded to form the bottom a' and sides a, b, i, h of the box and furnished with a band d passing around the sides and stitched or secured transversely to one limb of the blank. The band may surround three sides only and be secured to flaps c on the side i. The opposite limbs a, b of the blank are furnished with marginal flanges e which support a lid f having marginal flanges g adapted to take within the walls of the box at the sides at which the flanges e do not occur. One or both of the flanges for supporting the lid may be on the band d instead of upon the blank.
