163,885. Arnold, J. E. April 19, 1920. Tread bands, projections, and surfaces. - The tread surfaces of pneumatic and other tyres are fitted with metal plates 2 of cruciform shape and provided on their under sides with pins or rivets 5, 6 which are passed through holes in the tyre and riveted over washers or plates 7. The plates may be arranged in contact with each other as in Fig. 1, or spaced apart.
