Tread bands, projections, and surfaces. - The heads of studs b, Fig. 2, project above the tread of the tyre and are attached by rivetting to a metal band a embedded in the rubber, the rubber portion not being shown in the Figure. The studsare shouldered and passed through washers on each side of the band. Perforations in the band. between the studs, increase its flexibility. The shanks of the studs may be hexagonal or of other shape.
