Abstract

Regulating. - A valve for returning a part of the charge to the pump or its equivalent during the compression stroke of a two-stroke engine comprises a piston valve C working in a charge-return conduit A communicating with the cylinder by ports A<2>, A<4>. The valve is held upwards, so as to uncover the port A<2>, by a spring C<3>, but is closed by the compression pressure when this reaches a certain amount. The action of the spring C<3> is modified by means of an opposing spring C<4> subject to a hand control C<5>. The lower edge C<2> of the valve may be coned to engage a seat A<3> when the valve is in the closed position.
