Abstract

158,535. Leipold, W. H. V. Feb. 2, 1920, [Convention date]. Disc wheels.-In wheels of the kind which are made from two sheet-metal stampings welded together so as to form the hub, hollow spokes and felloe, the detachable tyre carrying rim 15 bears directly on the inner edge 18 of the inner stamping, and the edge of the outer stamping is turned inwards at 17 to form an inclined seating for a ring 19 which is carried by the rim and has an inwardly extending flange 20 to take transverse bolts 13. The edge 17 may be stiffened by hollow ribs 21 pressed in the metal. The hub 4 is braced internally by tubular members 12 positioned by the inwardly flanged edges 11 of the bolt holes by which the wheel is secured to the axle. Similar bracing- members 14 are provided in the felloe. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the formation of the rim by suitably shaping the edges of the stampings. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
