Abstract

Impeller blades.-In a rotary pump giving an axial flow, each vane 40 of .the impeller has sections 10, 10<1> and 11, 11', shown developed in Figs. 3 and 4, which are made by conical surfaces co-axial with the axis of rotation and which have different inclinations to the tangential direction of the water at the points of entrance and discharge. The vane surface is helicoidal, and is generated by a straight line in a meridian plane which moves round both sections, the straight line making various angles with the axis as the plane revolves.
