Abstract

226,823. Akt.-Ges. der Maschinenfabriken Escher, Wyss, et Cie. Dec. 24, 1923, [Convention date]. Blades.-The rotor of a high-speed water turbine has at least four blades c, which are unshrouded at the. tips and have each a helical working surface, the guide curve of which on the outermost cylindrical section x-x is slightly concave, the generatrix sliding therethrough being a straight or slightly curved line which always cuts the axis of the rotor at the same angle and always remains parallel to a plane situated at right angles, or approximately so, to the said axis. The cylindrical section y-y, Fig. 2, is taken through the inner ends of the blades. The entrance and outlet edges 1-1, 3-3 are at right angles to the rotor axis, but they may be slightly inclined thereto as indicated by the broken lines 1-2, 3-4.
