Abstract
370,474. Rotary pumps. NICHOLS, T. W., 63, Capel Road, Forest Gate, London. Dec. 11, 1930, No. 37427. [Class 110 (ii).] In a rotary pump wherein a toothed rotor 1 meshes with an outer ring 3, a crescent-shaped or part crescent-shaped block 5 being interposed, the rotor is supported by a vertical spindle 2 and driven by the ring 3 which is connected by ribs or a collar 13 to a hub 14 keyed to a driving shaft 4. Recesses 17 are cut into the rotor vanes 18 and rounded off as at 19, or carried through to the top of the rotor. The ring 3 is supported on bearings 9, 12 at the ends. Fluid to be pumped enters through a port 22a and is delivered at an outlet 22b. In a modification the shaft drives the rotor which is inverted from the position shown in Fig. 1 and fluid enters and leaves at the top. The pump may be placed with its axis horizontal.
