Abstract

1521411 Cutting skin SOC FARMACEUTICI ITALIA SpA 18 Feb 1976 [13 Oct 1975] 06330/76 Heading A5R [Also in Division F2] Apparatus for producing skin cuts of predetermined size for determining blood clotting time, comprises a casing 7 accommodating a blade 2 projectable through a slit in the casing and movable between two ends of stroke positions under and against the action of a spring 9 (25) Fig. 5 (not shown) the blade 2 or a blade supporting arm (16) Fig. 7 (not shown) being mounted by elongated slots 3, 4 respectively, on a pin 5 (20) fixed to the casing and a pin 6 (21) rotatable relative to the casing in a circle about the centre 8. The rotatable pin (21) may be supported eccentrically on a spindle (23) which is rotatable by a knob (24) against the spring (25) in order to move the blade (19) into the beginning of stroke position. The blade (19) and spindle (23) are held in this position by a lever (29) which retains a pawl (26) on the spindle (23) against a screw (27). On release of the pawl (26) by manual operation of the lever (29), the pin (21) is moved in a circle with the spindle (23) due to release of the spring (25) so that the lancer 19 moves to the end of its stroke position while its blade edge projects through the slit (15) under the action of the spring (22). The slit (15) may be closed with the blade or arm in beginning of the stroke position by a sliding plate (34).
