Abstract

1491439 Electro-physical measurement: foam density MALCOM-ELLIS (LIVERPOOL) Ltd 7 Nov 1974 [9 Aug 1973] 37877/73 Heading G1N [Also in Division G3 ] A detector for foam in a fluid (e.g. due to detergent in a washing machine) comprises an oscillator whose feedback is determined by electrodes subjected to the foam. As shown Fig. 3, resonant circuit 4, L 1 is connected to amplifier 2 which is provided with positive feedback by coupling coil L 2 and negative feedback from capacitor divider 6 plus the capacity between sensor electrodes 26, 28, (which depends on the dielectric constant of the liquid/foam between them). CONTROL: The liquid/gas proportions of the fluid may be controlled to a predetermined value e.g. by automatically regulating the amount of detergent added.
