Abstract

1470319 Reciprocating pumps; hydraulic control circuits TIME COMMERCIAL FINANCING CORP 6 June 1974 [7 June 1973] 25234/74 Headings F1A and F1P A manually-operated pump and valve unit, e.g. for operating a vehicle cab-tilting jack, comprises a piston 18, Fig. 4, reciprocated by a handle 19 to draw liquid from a reservoir 14 via filter 23 and ball-valve 25, and to deliver the liquid via ball-valve 28 and rotary valve 15, which is operated by handle 16 to connect the delivery to either end of the cab-tilting jack and to connect the return flow from the jack to the reservoir 14 via an adjustable throttle (44), Fig. 7 (not shown), which controls the movement of the cab when falling under gravity. A pressure-relief valve 33 connects the pump cylinder to the reservoir. A relief valve to atmosphere is provided in the top of the reservoir. The rotary valve 15 has an axial bore 15a communicating with radial bores 36, 37, Fig. 6, which register with passages 40, 41, respectively, leading to the opposite ends of the jack, according to setting of the valve. Return flow from the jack via passage 40 or 41 enters an axial groove 38 in valve 15, the groove being connected via a peripheral groove (39, Fig. 7), to the throttled passage (42) leading to the reservoir. Valve 15 also may be used to throttle or stop the return flow. One of passages 36, 37 may be replaced by an axial groove.
