1314075 Hydraulic reciprocating pumps driven by fluid operating motors INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 12 May 1970 [24 May 1969] 33854/70 Divided out of 1314071 Headings F1A and F1M An air driven pump comprised a pumping piston 21 reciprocable in a cylinder 23, a motor piston 5 connected to the pumping piston 21 and reciprocable in a cylinder 4, a reversing spool valve 19 controlling the supply and exhaust of air to and from spaces 36, 38 on opposite sides of the motor piston, and a toggle mechanism 13, 16, 20 for reversing the spool valve 19. The toggle mechanism comprises levers 13, 16 pivoted about a common pin 14 and connected by a spring 20 so that clockwise movement of the lever 13 results in snap action anti-clockwise movement of the other lever 15, and vice-versa. Thus, when lever 13 is displaced by a rod 10 on abutment of a piston 19 thereon with one or other end of a cylinder bore 8, the spool valve 19 connected to the other lever 16 changes over. The pumping piston 21 is double-acting, drawing in liquid from a reservoir 43 through a filter 24 and inlet valves 25, 26, and delivering through outlet valves 27, 28 to a line 29.
