Fonce-feed lubricating. -To lubricate the crankshaft bearings of an internal-combustion engine, the crank-case pressure acting through a non- return valve g forces oil from a sump b up a passage i, which communicates with a duct in the crank-shaft through an aperture m, arranged to remain open for any portion of a revolution. A small opening h relieves the pressure in the sump when the engine stops. Instead of entering the duct in the crank-shaft the oil may be delivered into a trough in which the connecting-rod dips.
