Abstract

121,410. Maudslay, R. W., and Standard Motor Co. March 7, 1918. Force-feed lubricating. - To lubricate the valve rockers of internal - combustion engines, oil is pumped through a duct A<2> in a stationary shaft A on which the rockers D are mounted, and passes through ducts D<1>, D<2> in the rockers, to the ends which contact with the tappet rods E and valve spindles F. At the end of the shaft A the oil enters an open cup placed above the level of the ducts D', and overflows to the crank-chamber. This limits the pressure in the duct A<2>, and prevents excessive lubrication. Oil which runs down the tappet rods E may be returned to :he crank chamber.
