1441542 Electro-depositing tin-nickel alloy SONY CORP 17 April 1974 [19 April 1973] 16801/74 Heading C7B An aqueous bright tin-nickel alloy plating electrolyte contains a stannous and a nickel salt, e.g. pyrophosphate, chloride or sulphate; alkali metal (e.g. Na or K) pyrophosphate; and a brightener formed by a compound having a plurality of amino groups, e.g. ethylenediamine, propanediamine, butanediamine, pentamethylenediamine, hexamethylenediamine, hydrazine, quanidine, urea or thiourea, and at least one of ammonia, an ammonium salt, e.g. chloride, sulphate, nitrate, citrate, tartrate or acetate, a compound having at least one -SH, -SNa, or -SK group, e.g. dithioammelide, 4-amino-3,5-dimercapto-1,2,4-triazol, ethylene thiuram monosulphide, 2,5-dimercapto-1, 3,4-thiadiazole, thiocarbohydrazide, hydrazodithiodicarbon amide or Na ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamate, a neutral amino acid (salt) free of S, e.g. glycine, alanine, serine, aminobutyric acid, leucine, isoleucine, proline, hydroxyproline, phenyl alanine, thyroxine or tryptophan, or a salt thereof, or a protein, e.g. glue, gelatine or gluten. The cathode substrate may be a Ni-plated brass plate; the anode may be of C.
