Abstract

143,167. Russell, W. C. Jan. 14, 1919. Spray carburettors. - Carburettors supplied with air under pressure are provided with a pipe or well for draining away wasto or overflowing liquid fuel. As shown, the pipe or well is formed by the limb e of a T-piece a mounted between the compressed air delivery pipe d and the air intake port b of the carburettor c. The well e is provided with an outlet pipe f having at its extremity a restricted orifice f<1>, or a valve, or both. When used on aircraft, the pipe f is led to the exterior of the body or fuselage g. A pipe k connects the well e to the top of the float chamber i to equalize the air pressures therein and to conduct away excess fuel if the float chamber is flooded.
