Abstract

1418747 Releasable fastening R J P JONES 6 June 1974 [7 March 1973] 11234/73 Heading E2A A releasable fastening comprises a member 1 having a bore therein which extends to a stepped chamber 6,- a shaft 2 received by said bore and provided with an -annular groove 3, a ball 4 which is positioned in the chamber 6 and is engageable with the groove 3 of the shaft 2, and a resilient member. 5 which engages one end of the shaft. The latter is fastened in the member 1 when the ball 4 engages the groove 3 of the shaft and when the ball is in the portion of the chamber 6 having the smaller diameter. Release of the shaft is effected -by inverting the fastening and by urging the shaft against the resilient member 5 so that the ball can move into the portion of the chamber having the greater diameter. A number of balls 4 may be provided. Rotation of the shaft can be prevented by forming a longitudinal groove 7 therein and engaging said groove with a pin 8 mounted in the member 1.
