Abstract

1418396 Electromagnetic switches DUCELLIER & CIE 1 March 1973 [3 March 1972] 10127/73 Heading H1N [Also in Division H2] A contactor for a starter motor assembly comprises a core 14 attached to a shank 15 and a contact plate 16 axially slidable on the shank. When a switch 26 is closed, a coil 25, connected to a resistor 30 and to the starter motor circuit 27 via contacts 18, 19 and the plate 16, is ener. gized. The motor rotates at a slow speed and the energized coil 25 axially displaces the assembly 14, 15, a shoulder 15a eventually engaging the end 29a of a spring 29 to move the plate 16 away from the contacts 18, 19 and into engagement with terminals 28, 31. The circuit 27 is therefore directly connected to a battery 24 to rotate the motor at full speed. When the switch 26 is opened, return springs 21, 22 move the assembly 14, 15 and the plate 16 back to their original positions.
