Abstract

1404041 Loading vehicles HANDELS-UND WARENFINANZIERUNGS-AG 17 Oct 1972 [18 Oct 1971 (2)] 47839/72 Heading B8Q A lifting rig 2 for loading and unloading a building module such as a garage having an open end 4 comprises an extendable central longitudinal member 12 rockably suspended in a bearing 15 having extendable cross members 13, 14 provided with lifting jacks 22, 21 respectively. The vehicle is brought to the open end 4 and the rig is withdrawn until a jack 16 can lower running gear 17 which runs on the garage floor 8 until the jacks 21 are positioned over holes 9 over which they are swung down. Retraction of the jacks 21, 22 allows fixing means 20 to be bolted to the module floor 8 after which extension of the jacks 21, 22 raises the module until it is above the vehicle platform 1 which can then be driven under the module which is lowered on to it for transportation. A similar reverse process unloads the module. Since the floor holes 9 are larger than the jacks 21 and the cross members 13, 14 are extendable and contractable by jacks 24, 23 as is the member 12 by a jack 30 the module can be moved relative to its supporting jacks to position it accurately on site. The jacks are controlled by valves 28, 29 on a front cross member 27 and are connected by conduits 32 to extendable hoses 25 provided on self-reeling drums 26.
