Abstract

1297044 Pipe racking device DRESSER INDUSTRIES Inc 4 Aug 1970 [12 Aug 1969] 37571/70 Heading E1F A pipe racking device for positioning pipe stand 28 within a derrick comprises hollow members 60, 66 connected by pivoted links 62, 64 whose lower ends slide within and longitudinally to the members. The members are moved relative to one another, while being maintained in parallel relationship, by a linear actuator, e.g. a hydraulic jack, mounted within member 60 and acting on the sliding end of link 62. Member 60 is pivotally supported on carriages which run on rails 48, 50. One or both carriages may be provided with a motor for propulsion along the tracks. One of the carriages may be provided with a servo motor for pivoting member 60. Stand-engaging arm 72 may be raised and lowered on member 66 by a winch and cable. The derrick has an upper and a lower racking device.
