Abstract

1,186,312. Mechanical parking. G. M. LYNCH. 27 Jan., 1969 [10 Feb., 1968], No. 6716/68. Heading B8E. Parking apparatus comprises platforms 1 connected by a parallel linkage 7, 8 to struts 9 of a central supporting column 2. In an elevated position in which the ground can be used for further parking a wheel assembly 16 runs on a track 10 extending round 330 degrees supported by columns 11. The track 10 is completed at one radial position by a track 12 which can be raised and lowered by screw jacks 13 or other means. A car entering through a gate 18 is driven on to a lowered platform 1 over a ramp 19. The screw jacks 13 are operated to raise the linkage 7, 8 and the track 12 until the latter is level with the track 10 when the support arms and platforms can be rotated until another desired platform is at the loading and unloading radial position in which is can be lowered by the screw jacks to the ground. Interlock switches prevent raising or lowering during rotation of the platforms and vice versa. Flaps are raised automatically in the raised platform position to prevent a vehicle from rolling off.
