Abstract

1389317 Injection mould ejector WKRANTZ 20 Oct 1972 [22 Oct 1971] 48563/72 Heading B5A The ejector means 5<SP>1</SP> of an injection mould (not shown), is operated by the movement of a mandrel 16 into engagement with a guide pin 5 sliding within a sleeve 4 attached to a fixed plate 1. The tip of the mandrel engages a matching recess in a latch member 12 causing it to slide within the guide pin 5 against the urging of a spring 22, the travel of the latch member being limited by a pin engaging a slot in the wall of the portion of the guide pin 5 housing the latch member 12. This displacement of the latch allows balls 10<SP>1</SP> boused in recesses in the wall to the guide pin 5 to move inwardly out of the recess 6 in the sleeve 4 and into a recess adjacent the tip of the mandrel, thus releasing the pin 5 from engagement with the sleeve 4 and engaging it with the mandrel. Further movement of the mandrel 16 moves the guide pin 5 through sleeve 4 and operates ejector pin 5<SP>1</SP> by means of plate 22 to which both pins are attached. After ejection the mandrel 16 is returned carrying the pins, 5 5<SP>1</SP> with it until balls 10<SP>1</SP> enter the recess 6 of sleeve 4, thus releasing the guide pin from the mandrel and locking it to the sleeve 4 by means of latch 12 which prevents the balls 10<SP>1</SP> from leaving the recess 6.
