Abstract

975,643. Cartridge - actuated tools. S.O.L.E.F.I. May 21, 1963 [May 25, 1962], No. 20126/63. Heading B4C. [Also in Division F3] A cartridge-actuated tool comprises a breechblock 4 connected to the barrel via a ring 6 capable of being displaced axially and rotated relatively to the barrel in order to permit both the movement necessary for locking the breech to the barrel and also relative pivotal movement of these members. The breech 4 is provided with two arms 7, 8 connected by pins 9, 10 to the ring 6, the end 10a of the pin 10 engaging with a part-circumferential groove 11 in the barrel. The breech is formed with a three-start thread co-operating with a similar thread on the barrel so that upon a quarter turn of the breech the latter can be disconnected from the barrel. A cartridge ejector 13 is slidable in the barrel and is locked by means of a spring-loaded catch 19. In operation, after a cartridge has been fired, the breech is first rotated and then axially moved so that the pin end 10a enters into a recess 20, Fig. 3, forming an extension of the groove 11, the breech then being pivoted so as to cause a pin 21 to release the catch 19 of the ejector and, thereby, under the action of a spring 14, allow the latter to eject a cartridge 3. In a modification, the groove 11 and catch 19 for the ejector are dispensed with.
