Abstract

1377497 Window locking device W K WALKER 21 Aug 1972 [25 May 1971] 16844/71 Heading E2F In a safety locking device for use on a pivotal window of the type having an apertured restraining bar 17 for engagement with an upstanding pin 14 integral with a fixed bracket 12, a pivot pin in the form of a bolt 20 is located in one of the apertures in the restraining bar 17, the bolt carrying a pivotal locking plate 23 a pair of holding members 21, 22 and adjustable means for clamping the plate 23 relative to the bar 17 and releasing the plate for pivotal movement relative to the bar 17. In use, with the window portion closed and the bar 17 in place over the pin 14, an adjustable nut 21 is slackened, so that the locking plate 23 can be pivoted to lie under the flange 13 of the pin bracket 12, the adjustable nut being tightened to compress a spring 24 located between the plate 23 and one of the holding members 22. By this means the locking bar cannot be pushed up out of engagement with the pin 14 from outside the window frame.
