[Also in Divisions E1-2] An anchorage device for a strap 4 comprises a frame 7, a spring urged retracting mechanism (not shown) for the strap carried by the frame, a buckle comprising a clamping bar 1 slidable relative to an aperture in a plate 3 of said buckle, the buckle being pivotally mounted in the frame, the arrangement being such that, in use, the strap passes through the aperture around the bar and back through the aperture to the retracting mechanism, and means for moving the plate about its pivot between a clamping position in which the surfaces of the plate are substantially parallel to the portion of the strap which is on the opposite side of the bar to the portion of the strap passing to the retracting mechanism so that pulling the first mentioned strap portion causes the bar to shift, so that the strap is clamped between the bar and one edge of the aperture and a releasing position in which the surfaces of the plate are substantially at right angles to the first mentioned strap portion. The means for moving the plate can be a lever, a pedal or remote control means. The retracting mechanism includes a roller actuated by a torsion leaf spring or alternatively a spiral spring.
