Abstract

1372467 Trench excavators KARL SCHAEFF KG MASCHINENFABRIK 24 Feb 1972 [3 March 1971] 8483/72 Heading E1F When mounted on a vehicle 11 a trench excavator unit has a vertically lowerable framework 13 in which is supported a vertically disposed bucket ladder assembly comprising two sets of endless chains 20, 27 that are, in the excavating region for the unit, guided parallel to one another. One set of chains is equipped with shallow conveying bowls 23 which are closed off at least on the side facing the two chains of the set whilst the other set of two chains is equipped with cutter bars 32 that extend around the conveying bowls whilst in the excavating region and is guided to lift itself away from the first chain set so that the cutter bars no longer embrace the conveying pans as they approach a region where spoil in the pans is dumped onto a horizontally disposed conveyer 25. The. conveyer extends beyond the side of the framework 13, which is provided with a crumbing shoe 44. The chain sets may have independent drives or a common drive, may be driven at the same or at different speeds and may have co-axial, leading upper reversal rollers. For Figure see next column
