Abstract

1385805 Unloading ship holds; endless conveyers BORG-WARNER (CANADA) Ltd 13 Dec 1972 [12 Jan 1972] 57577/72 Headings B8A and B8E Bucket elevators 22 to discharge a ship's hold 22 are mounted on a trolley frame 28 movable longitudinally of the hold and are pivotable between horizontal and vertical positions. A shaft 24 driven by a prime mover 29 has a number of endless belts or chains 48 having buckets 50 keyed thereto and supported by frameworks 47 pivotable about the shaft by a chain and pulley system 66 driven by a hoist 64. The buckets discharge on to a cross conveyer belt 52 which in turn discharges through a shoot 62 on to a conveyer belt 60 supported longitudinally of the ship on a portion 36 to convey the material to the dischargepoint. The trolley frame 28 has wheels 30, 32 the latter supported by a track 34 and may be moved by a winch and motor arrangement 40 or by other motor means.
